Bio:

“Playing with Color.” “Putting a Puzzle Together.” These are two statements I find myself using when describing my art. Each piece begins with an inspiration: a glimpse of sunrise through the trees, a vivid sunlit field of wildflowers, or an antique quilt. My work with glass has trained my eye to be alert for the bright colors hidden in the world around us. A single color may start me on the quest to represent the image I’ve seen from the various colors and textures of glass available to me. Spread out around me on the work table in my studio, the pieces take on the look of a puzzle in process. Each piece is cut and ground to fit into its slot in the composition. Finally, the various pieces fall into place and the puzzle is complete. Art for me is an escape. I spend 90% of my time as a busy wife, mother and business owner. My small amount of free time is spent enjoying the colors and textures of the glass in my studio. I “found” glass in Seattle, nearly 15 years ago when I was looking to fill some time while my husband attended a conference. After a two-day intensive class, I knew that I had found my creative outlet. Since then, I have attended classes throughout the U.S. and looked for any opportunity to learn more about various glass techniques. It’s amazing how much glass art surrounds us when you are looking for it!
