Bio:

Simply put, I paint what’s in and on my heart and in my imagination, it’s something that I feel. First and foremost, I want to convey a sense of peace, inspiration, faith and joy for the viewer within my works. You might say, in and through my art, prayer and healing is facilitated. With my art therapy background and my personal experience as an artist, since I was a child, I know first hand the value of art, in all of it’s forms, but for me, especially in mixed-media painting. Art indeed is my friend, a true and faithful friend who has been with me my whole life. The core of my artwork is related to the natural world, botanicals, animals and birds, faith, spirituality and much more! While working on my bachelor degree in Art Therapy I worked with many art mediums, from oils to ceramics. Mixed-media art allows me to utilize a varied and extensive array of art materials which lends itself to such flexibility and freedom. I often will combine collage with acrylic paint on canvas, wood or paper as its substrate. My works you could also say are abstract with a hint of realism. Painting people, usually females, is something often seen throughout many of my paintings, especially as it relates to depicting images of Mother and Child. I truly believe that art is a way to communicate, especially when words aren’t adequate, available or possible. This is what also drives my art, and I want to share this with others, and hope that it may make some even though small impact in the world! -Tina Amaro
