Bio:

Linda Frost is a lifetime Kansas resident, and has lived in Lawrence for over 40 years. Frost's work has covered the entire spectrum of quilting, from reproducing antique quilts to creating abstract pieces while exploring with contemporary quilt artists. Frost uses layered textiles and the quilting stitch to create line and shape. This work provides a means to take ethereal thought and emotion and put them into a physical form. Frost's work has been exhibited at the Textile Arts Center in Brooklyn, NY, the Longmont Museum in Longmont, CO, the Page-Walker Arts Center in Cary, NC, and locally at the Alice C. Sabatini Gallery in Topeka, the Irene French Gallery in Merriam, the 1109 Gallery in Lawrence, KS, and in two previous shows at the Leedy-Voulkos Art Center. The Kansas City Star has published two books by Frost: “Happy Birthday Kansas!” and “Robots in Space!”. Frost’s quilt “Golden Bird” was included in Sielman’s book “The Natural World” and her quilt “Geode Slices” was included in Sielman’s book “Abstract and Geometric”. Her Civil War era reproduction quilts have been pictured in several books by Barbara Brackman. Frost was happy to be a part of Lawrence’s “Hawks on Parade” exhibit with her "Patchwork Hawk" and was honored to receive the Lawrence Arts Commission’s Phoenix Award in 2007.
