Bio:

Linda is a native of Indiana and her earliest artistic influence came from her father, Maurice L. Shoults, a commercial artist. A graduate of Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana with a BS in Special Education and a MA in Special Education/Orthopedic and Special Health Problems. Supporting private lessons, Linda chose to use elective hours for Art courses to broaden her exposure to a variety of painting techniques and disciplines. She taught in public school, but after four years she was offered a career in hospital administration and worked 19 years in general hospitals throughout the Midwest, while remaining active in her pursuit of her artistic development. Currently Linda is the Director of Operations for two Environmental Services companies specializing in land management of military training grounds. She works thirty hours per week which allows time for painting and studying art & artists. Her individual painting style has developed along personal exploration and noteworthy workshops with artists Kim Casebeer, Louis Copt, Howard Friedland, Hugh Greer, William Scott Jennings, Cally Krallman. Linda Glover Gooch and Phil Starke. In 2007 Linda was diagnosed with a rare form of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma and has been in remission since March of 2009. This brush with death brought her artistic goals in focus and spurred on her quest for a career as a full time artist. Linda has for many years been a promoter of community based art opportunities which for the past seven years has evolved as the Fine Art Workshop Coordinator for the Morris County Community Arts Council. During this same time period she has been the Artist Coordinator for the annual Gathering in the Grove Fine Art Show and Sale which gives local and regional artists a venue to sell their work and the community the opportunity to view these works of art. With the support of the Community Arts Council in 2011 'Summer Art Day Camp' began, which is an annual program that provides art experiences for elementary, middle, and high school populations plus adult workshops. In April 2012 Linda opened Prairie Godmother Studio and offers painting classes, in her studio/gallery. Linda resides on her ranch near Alta Vista, KS with her four Appaloosa horses and two dogs. Linda Shoults regularly shows at The Topeka Art Guild Gallery, Topeka, KS and the Manhattan Arts Center, Manhattan, KS and participates in regional and national shows.
