Bio:
Katheryn Krouse is a realist painter with an eye condition known as Stargardts Disease. This condition effects the way her retinas process light, interpreting light values, significantly brighter, and her dark values significantly darker. This naturally makes its way into her artwork as she communicates how she sees her changing world. This condition is somewhat disabling as she can no longer drive. Now inspired by mass transportation, her work focuses on a pedestrian’s perspective of urban city scenes. To emphasize a focus on contrasting light, the use vibrant colors, are used usually pushing a warm/cool contrast, often times looking to the Impressionists and Post Impressionists out of admiration of their delicate rendering of light. Krouse Graduated from KU with a BFA in 2012. Since graduation, Krouse has participated in numerous local art fairs, shown in local galleries and restaurants. Krouse has recently been recognized in ‘Art Ability’ a juried show in Philadelphia, where she was awarded best in show. Krouse has just been nominated for the Kansas City Collection, a prestigious title for Kansas City artists. For more information, visit katherynkrouse.com and facebook.com/katheryn.krouse.art
