Artist Profile: Rhonda Richter
Rhonda Richter
West Plains, MO
Bio:
Early on, in high school art class, Rhonda Richter was struck with a reproduction of Cezanne's "Blue Vase". Post Impressionism's wrestling with color balance and freedom in depiction of depth has been a steady influence in Richter's approach to painting. Additionally, the profound wonder of nature is an important motivation for Richter's dedication to direct observation. Working from life, quickly and directly, contributes to Richter's expressive style. Bold color, gestural form and rhythmic brushwork interact to create visual movement within Richter's emotionally structured compositions. Richter has lived abroad (ten years in Germany) and traveled extensively (throughout Europe and Tunisia). Presently, Richter resides in rural Howell County, Missouri.
