Though relatively new to oil painting, Tina has always been an artist. Tina began drawing at a young age, like most children do and continued throughout her school-aged years to deftly find ways to submit drawings in the place of academic projects. Happy to find a way to parlay her love of drawing into a career, Tina pursued a degree in Visual Communication from the Art Institute of Colorado in 1994 and has enjoyed freelance illustration and design for print, video and apps for a global publishing house since 2000. But there was something nagging that the world of Adobe Software and computers could not yeild. In 2012, based on her self-taught pastel portraiture, the Scottsdale Artists’ School awarded Tina a merit scholarship and she began working in oil in an intensive workshop under award-winning artist, Romel dela Torre, and immediately fell in love...with oils, that is. Tina’s third oil painting, "Messenger" juried into Scottdale’s The Best and The Brightest Show in January 2013. While attending this show her second workshop under the revolutionary artist, Casey Baugh, the Scottsdale Artists’ School awarded Tina again, this time with the RayMar Art Scholarship under artist Aaron Westerberg. In the few short months since Tina's introduction to oil she has studied intently the Selective Start Method described in "Alla Prima" by Richard Schmid and created a family of private collectors and commissioned clients in Kansas City, Florida, Chicago, New York, and New Orleans. Tina has begun to marry her affection for people and beautiful faces with her passion for travel, charming strangers into models wherever she goes and fufilling her lifelong dream of becoming a fine artist.
