Bio:
Artist Statement – Painting Oil painting is both challenging and rewarding to me as an artist. I attempt to capture the essence of the moment working from original photos or on-site via Plein Air. I paint landscapes, portraits and the figure. Successful paintings begin with accurate drawings followed by composition, values and then color. I hold a BA in Art Education from the University of Northern Iowa and taught high school-level art immediately following graduation. I enjoyed it immensely but decided to change careers to better support the needs of my young family. Fortunately, creativity, teaching and communication skills migrate well into business. In 2014 I retired from a three decades-long profession in complex data and communication system sales. During that period, creating art was allocated to weekends and evenings. Today my life has come full circle, as I am I now able to focus full time on my artistic roots and personal development. The complete collection of my work can be viewed at boc-artz.com.
